What. A. Pussy.

Dammit. Damn Damn Damn. I thought I'd have a chance to relax with the political screeds on this blog. I was going to post some pictures of hot guys and maybe talk about Liza for a minute. But noooooooo. Nope. Of course not.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid informed the press yesterday that he has no plans to do anything on Don't Ask Don't Tell. Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch.

"I haven't identified any sponsors," he said. "My hope is that it can be done administratively." A Democratic aide later clarified that Reid was speaking about the possibility of using an executive order to suspend discharges or perhaps halting enforcement of the policy by changing departmental regulations within the Department of Defense. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs has continually said in recent months that President Barack Obama believes the only "durable solution" to repealing the military's gay ban would be to do so through legislative action.Reid said that if the House moves on its DADT bill, which was introduced in March, only then would he be "happy to take it up."

Note, please, that he didn't say "I couldn't identify any sponsors." He said "I haven't identified any sponsors.". That's no mistake. I'd bet a delicious donut that this spineless, milquetoast little man hasn't even tried to move on this issue. (Of course, asking a mormon to do anything to advance LGBT equality is a futile exercise at best. You might as well ask Dick Cheney to take up interpretive dance.)

70% of Americans support repealing DADT. Seventy percent. Seventy. That includes 58% of conservatives and 60% of weekly churchgoers. The numbers supporting this repeal are stronger than Obama's approval ratings, which are widely touted to be "through the roof". We always hear about how we need to "let the people decide" and all that... of course, we only hear that line when "the people" vote against LGBT equality. In this rare instance, America is saying in a loud, clear voice that this law is unfair.

The voice of the people is not being listened to.

This is another perfect example of how the Democratic party is no longer a progressive entity. It's a little more progressive than the Republicans, which is like saying that Condi Rice is a little less conservative than Dick Cheney.

It is time for the end of the two-party system in this country.
